Sophie, a 19-year-old girl who believes she is plain, has resigned herself to a drab life in her family's hat shop--until the Witch of the Waste transforms her into a 90-year-old woman. In her aged guise, Sophie searches for a way to break the Witch's spell and finds unexpected adventures.

Create a Zine with Flavia Lytle

All you need is a BIG imagination, scizzors, old magazines, paper cuttings, pens and some paper & we'll construct what's known as a "zine"-an underground self-published piece of work that can talk about anything you wish, nothing is barred!

Rant, rave, wish, imagine: put it into a zine & then give it to your friends. Impress your parents with your talent and put your energy into a real work of art!

Teens encouraged and not limited to express their frustrations, creations and writings-We will work on a zine together as a group. OPEN THEME- Black and White ONLY

Flavia Lytle of a-ok clothing art & a-ok indy zine, is a working artist who lives in Lunenburg with her 3 kids. She has travelled around the world, collecting ideas and images her whole life. She speaks for languages and would like to inspire young people to live life large!

Worms for Dinner - Claymation/Animation

Worms For Dinner

Children will work with modelling clay to create a colourful cast of slithery snakes. Then its time to set the stage or rather 'set the table' with plates, bowls & cups – whacky! Get ready for dinner - 'worms for dinner!'

Children take turns as Photographer, Director, and
Producer for their claymation movie production.

Maximum 24 Requires one adult for every 6 children
Festival volunteers may be available - please inquire

Creative Writing Workshop with Russ Barton of Creative Holidays Nova Scotia

Create Dynamic Openings for Short or Long Fiction

Workshop tutor Russ Barton has taught fiction writing for Creative Holidays, Nova Scotia in Halifax and along the South Shore for ten years.

This ninety-minute workshop demonstrates techniques used to write dynamic openings that draw readers into fiction. Examine and analyze successful openings in literature. Russ challenges you to write your short story or novel opening and present it to the workshop for critical discussion.

Aven will walk participants through the process of creating a stop motion animation skit using plasticene characters.
